Former St. Augustine's Men's Basketball Great Bernard Heard Passes Away

(Dec. 16) - The Saint Augustine's University Department of Athletics gives its condolences to the family of former Saint Augustine's basketball great Bernard Heard, who passed away recently. Heard helped lead the Falcons to their first-ever CIAA Men's Basketball Championship in 1997.

Heard scored 18 points, including two free throws and a dunk in the final two minutes, as the Falcons pulled away for a 70-64 title victory over Fayetteville State in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was the CIAA Tournament MVP and named to the All-CIAA Tournament Team.
