He becomes the third athlete from an HBCU to claim a national title at this year's event.

Coppin State product Christina Epps won the women's triple jump Friday and St. Augustine's alum Bershawn Jackson became US Champion in the men's 400m dash, Saturday, to join Oliver as national champions from HBCUs.

As defending world champion, Oliver had already earned a spot at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China in August but he left no doubt about his readiness easily finishing ahead of the field in the final event of the day. Ronnie Ash, who began his track career at Bethune-Cookman also earned a spot on Team USA finishing second to Oliver.
