Charlotte, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and its Board of Directors have announced the addition of Nevin Caple as the conference's Diversity and Inclusion Consultant.Caple

Caple is a leading strategic diversity consultant on LGBTQ inclusion. She works with college coaches, administrators, and student-athletes in athletic communities around the country. Caple is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Br{ache the Silence Campaign and the LGBT SportSafe Inclusion Program. LGBT SportSafe was founded to create an infrastructure for athletic and recreational sports leadership to support LGBT inclusion.

"Nevin possesses a wealth of national knowledge and experience in diversity initiatives within athletics, particularly with the NCAA initiatives and HBCU programming," said CIAA Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams. "Her passion compliments the CIAA's mission to create and enhance the student-athlete experience. She will be an asset to the CIAA's staff, member-institutions, fans, and most importantly our student-athletes."

Nevin Caple began her involvement with the CIAA as a guest presenter for professional development during the 2016 Annual Spring Meetings. Since then, her role has evolved to working with the conference and its member institutions year-round to assist in creating and ensuring inclusive environments for staff, administrators, coaches, and student-athletes at all CIAA championships and official events. Caple will work with each of the conference's associations including intricate collaboration with the Board of Directors, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and local organizing committees of each CIAA championship host city.

Caple sits on the Women's Sports Foundation's Advocacy Committee, National Center for Lesbian Rights' National Leadership Council, and serves as a member of the faculty for the Alliance of Women Coaches. She partners with the NCAA on several initiatives, most recently launching the LGBTQ Outreach Tour with Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Caple is a founding member of the Nike LGBT Sports Foundation and currently resides in New York City.
