After a COVID impacted Spring event that saw Savannah State fall to West Alabama,,, 36-28, on March 13. The Gulf Coast Challenge has announced that the fourth edition of the Challenge will feature Alabama A&M and Tuskegee on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 4:00pm at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.gulf coast challenge logo

A&M will be making a third appearance in the Challenge. They lost to Southern in the inaugural Challenge in 2018, then defeated Central State in the 2019.

With Alabama A&M University returning for the third time, Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks said, "We're excited to continue being a part of the Gulf Coast Challenge. The city of Mobile has been great to work with, and we look forward to renewing our historic rivalry with Tuskegee University."

Tuskegee will be making its first appearance in the Challenge.

"We are excited and feel a tremendous challenge in participating in the Gulf Coast Challenge against Alabama A&M University in Mobile", said TU Athletics Director and head football coach Willie Slater.

After recently completing its Spring 2021 football game which was rescheduled due to Covid-19, Timothy Hale Jr., Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Challenge said, "Even during a pandemic, the fans supported the Gulf Coast Challenge leading to its success. With that support and success, we are even more optimistic that the upcoming events in September will continue to feed our endeavors to promote higher education with HBCU's."
