RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University has announced that Mathew Brown will be new men’s and women’s soccer head coach. Brown becomes the second head coach of Shaw’s soccer program that started in 2017.Brown
Brown served as an assistant coach during Shaw’s men’s and women’s inaugural season where he assisted in all facets of the program. Prior to becoming head coach at Shaw, Brown was as an assistant coach at Division I Elon University.
A native of England, Brown brings a variety of coaching experiences to Shaw. Prior to joining the Bears and the Phoenix, Brown served as an Assistant Coach at NCAA Division I Buffalo University. He oversaw the UB goalkeepers as well as the day-to-day activities of the program, including practice sessions, recruitment and video analysis.
A graduate of the University College St. Mark & St. John in 2011, Brown earned a Bachelor in Physical Education. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration. The England native also owns his UFEA B License, a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping level 3 Diploma and USSF E License.
