DURHAM, N.C. — North Carolina Central University Director of Tennis and Head Men’s Tennis Coach D. Curtis Lawson was named to the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Committee and will serve a term of four years from Sept. 1, 2018, to Aug. 31, 2022.
 
Lawson has over 20 years of tennis instructing, coaching and officiating experience to his credit. Lawson is in his 18th season at NCCU (1990-91 to 1995-96 and 2006-07 to Present).
 
The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Committee is composed of twelve members (six women and six men) whose primary role is the governance and oversight of all DI national championships. 
 
Lawson is the first NCCU tennis coach to serve on the committee and one of a select number of coaches in any sport from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to be selected to serve on an NCAA committee.
