Elizabeth City, N.C.- Chancellor Thomas E. H. Conway has released Earnest J. Wilson as Elizabeth City Vikings head football coach. Wilson's release is effective immediately.
Wilson took over as head coach in February, 2016. In his first season, he led the Vikings to a 5-5 overall record; 4-3 in the CIAA. He was also named the 2016 CIAA Football Coach of the Year.
In 2017, ECSU finished the season with a 4-6 overall record (2-4 in the CIAA).
“We thank Coach Wilson for his service to our team, and to the ECSU family and we wish him the best. ECSU is heading in a new direction and we are excited about what’s ahead,” said Chancellor Conway.
Tim Orr, Defensive Coordinator, will manage football operations while the search for a new head football coach is underway.
