Custom Search MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State interim athletic director Jennifer Lynne Williams has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Council, announced by the association this week.

"The University is extremely proud that Interim Athletics Director Jennifer Williams has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Council," said Alabama State University president, Dr. Quinton T Ross, Jr. "Given her knowledge of and experience in athletics administration, we know that she will be a valuable asset to the work of the council."
The term begins July 1, 2018 and will run for four years, ending June 30, 2022.
The Division I Council is a high-level group responsible for the day-to-day decision-making for Division I. Athletics directors, athletics administrators, senior women administrators; faculty athletics representatives and student-athletes serve on the Council. Every Division I conference is represented on the Council, which replaces the Leadership and Legislative Councils in the previous structure.
The Division I Council is also responsible for the following standing committees, who report directly to the Council: Student-Athlete Experience Committee, Strategic Video and Planning Committee, Legislative Committee, Competition Oversight Committee, Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee, Football Oversight Committee, Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee and Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Williams, in her second year at Alabama State, has more than a decade of experience in athletics administration. As the Deputy Director of Athletics, she managed the day-to-day operations of Hornet athletics and led the division’s external and community relations initiatives. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).
She came to Alabama State after spending four years as the Associate Athletic Director of Development and Executive Director of the Aggie Foundation at North Carolina A&T. Williams oversaw the giving initiatives for athletics and raised more than $4 million in donor revenue while doubling the number of donors for athletics.
