MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Terrance Jones has been named Alabama State University’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, effective Sept. 12.

The position will report directly to the Deputy Director of Intercollegiate Athletics with a direct reporting line to the Director of Athletics with fundraising, and assist with the promotion of ASU’s vision, mission and values within all athletic activities.

In his prior position, Jones served on the senior leadership team in the Department of Athletics at Delaware State University as the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions.

Among his duties including overseeing the media relations department, ticketing, and fundraising efforts.  While there, Jones also served on the President’s marketing team where he guided the day-to-day marketing operations for the more than 4,000 students and thousands of DSU alumni of Delaware State University.

Prior to that experience, Jones served at his alma mater North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C. for over five years as the Assistant Director of Marketing in the athletic department.

There, he oversaw game day operations, graduate assistants, and student spirit groups.  He also served on the fundraising team of the department.

Jones is a member of Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) and National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). In the summer of 2016, Jones graduated as a participant in NCAA Leadership Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He also serves on the national advisory board of TicketReturn, LLC and most recently began his second year as the MEAC’s representative to the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA).

Prior to his employment in athletics, Jones spent three years as the Program Director of Campus Recreation at North Carolina Central University, there he helped organize and execute programing for the student body of the university. In addition, he aided the Eagles' Recreation Department by managing the facility, and student workers.

Jones completed his master's degree in Public Administration at North Carolina Central University in May 2013. During his graduate studies in the winter of 2012, Jones was selected to participate in the APPLE Conference sponsored by the NCAA and the University of Virginia's Gordie Center for Substance Abuse.

Jones is a 2011 graduate of North Carolina Central University with a bachelor's degree in recreation and sports administration.
