SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University has announced the hiring of Carolina Lainez as the next women's tennis head coach. Lainez
Lainez was an assistant coach at SSU in 2014-15 and was the AGM USA Ambassador for AGM Sports in Zaragoza, Spain from 2015-16.
Prior to SSU, Lainez was a student assistant coach for Lander University in Greenwood, S.C., and was a tennis pro at the Real Zaragoza Club de Tenis in Zaragoza from 2008-09, 2012 and during the summers of 2009-13.
The Zaragoza, Spain native is a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic during the 2012-13 and the 2014-15 seasons and posted a 15-6 singles record at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in her senior season and posted a 19-4 doubles record at the No. 1 position in her senior season at Lander.
Lainez was named on the Peach Belt Conference honor roll "Gold Scholar" in 2012-13 and 2013-14. She was named on the Peach Belt Conference All-Second Team in doubles in 2014 and was ranked No. 25 in the ITA Division II doubles rankings in May of 2014.
Lainez earned her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science in May of 2014 with Summa Cum Laude.
