Athletic Directors named at Grambling and Texas Southern

Two Southwestern Athletic Conference schools have named new directors for their athletic programs and another is yet to be named at a third school.

Last week, Grambling State University and Texas Southern University announced the hiring of new athletic directors while Prairie View A&M continus its search for a new AD.

At Grambling, President Raymond Hicks tabbed Robert Piper as just the third athletic director in school history. He lured the GSU alumnus back to the school from Talladega Collge where he had implemented a $10 million capital campaign in two years as Development Director.

Piper previously served GSU as a Special Assistant to the President for External Relations, Director of Development, Acting Director of Alumni Affairs and Compliance Coordinator.

President James M. Douglas of Texas Southern picked Houston businessman Harold Odom as his new AD.

Douglas called Odom "a veteran businessman who'll be an immediate connection with the alumni." He is a 1965 TSU graduate who's involved in several family-held businesses.
