St. Augustine's College head basketball coach Norvell Lee was funeralized in Goldsboro, North Carolina today. Services were held at Hamilton Funeral Chapel and Gardens in the city where Lee served many years as a successful high school coach.Lee died Wednesday, August 13 from an apparent heart attack while travelling from Goldsboro to Raleigh.
Earlier this year, he guided St. Augustine's men's basketball team to the CIAA basketball championship. He was also named the Most Outstanding Coach in the 1997 CIAA Tournament.
The Lee family has requested that contributions be made to the Coach Norvell Lee Scholarship Fund, Office of the President, Saint Augustine's College, 1315 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27610-0621.
A memorial service will be held on the Saint Augustine's College campus, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. in either the College Chapel or Emery Gymnasium.
