
Charlotte, NC - Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) has named Barry Street to serve as women's basketball head coach, effective immediately. The announcement came at a 12:00 noon press conference, Thursday, where he was given a formal introduction to the media and JCSU supporters.
Street comes to J.C. Smith from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) where he served as an assistant women's basketball coach for the past four years. He assisted in four regular season Big South Conference Championships, coached two first-team Big South All-Conference post players, and assisted in the 1998 UNCG team's advancement to the first round of the NCAA Division I playoffs. Street also has coordinated women's basketball clinics and coached women's tennis.
He is no stranger to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association having served as an assistant women's basketball coach at North Carolina Central University from 1991-93.
Street earned his Bachelor of Science degree from UNCG in 1992.
