
Howard University forward and MEAC Player of the Year Alisha Hill has joined the second group of new signees in the WNBA. Hill, a 6-0 Senior from Huntington, WV became the second Black College player to sign with the league prior to the Pre-Draft Camp, April 16-18 in Chicago.
Hill, 21, led the Lady Bison in scoring (20.8) and rebounding (13.5) this past season. She is the MEAC Conference's all-time leading scorer (2,099) and was a three-time member of the All-MEAC First Team. In 1997-98, Hill led the nation in rebounding with an average of 13.2 rebounds per game. At Howard, she led her team to three consecutive NCAA tournament berths (1996, 1997, 1998).
Also signing contracts were Big Ten Conference Player of the Year Tangela Smith, a 6-4 center from Iowa, Angela Hamblin from Iowa, LaTonya Johnson from the University of Memphis, Stanford's Olympia Scott, LaShena Graham from Colorado, Mimi McKinney from Virginia and Valderbilt's Lisa Ostrom.
