Bill Hamilton Receives CoSIDA Good Person Award

Spokane, WA. -- South Carolina State University sports information director Bill Hamilton has been awarded the Kodak Good Person Award by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Award is given annually to a college SID for civic involvement and accomplishments outside the field of intercollegiate athletics.

Hamilton, in his 25th year as SID at South Carolina State, has worked with the Orangeburg Attention Homes, Inc. (OAHI) for the past 20 years. OAHI operates two Department of Social Services licensed residential moderate management group homes, one for boys and one for girls, and an emergency placement shelter for boys.

He is serving his second tenure as chair of the OAHI board of directors, which oversees a $500,000 budget.

In addition, he has served as local chapter president and past state board member of the Alston Wilkes Society, a statewide organization that creates and supports opportunities to help adult and juvenile offenders, homeless veterans and other homeless people, emotionally disturbed children and the families of these groups.

Hamilton is a board member of the South Carolina State Employees Association, which advocates vigorously for the rights and benefits for state employees and retirees. He has also been a long-time mentor at Howard Middle School.

Hamilton is an active member of St. Pisgah Baptist Church in Orangeburg where he is an usher, vice president of Ward One, a member of the Men's progressive Club and editor of the church newsletter.
