PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Antwain Smith - St. Paul's, SO, F, 6'7, 215, Newport News, VA

Smith had an impressive game against Virginia State finishing with 21 points, 17 rebounds, an assist, two steals and 4 blocked shots. He finished the week with 70 points, 28 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 9 blocked shots.


NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

Mudumango Lee - St. Paul's, SO, G, 6'3, 180, Richmond, VA

In three games this week, Lee tallied 75 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 8 assists, and had 3 steals. His best game came against N.C. Central where he had 27 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Dion Woods - Norfolk State, FR, G, 6'1, 180, Lansing, MI

Woods totaled 39 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals in three games last week. In the game against Virginia Union, he accounted for 19 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and two steals to aid in the Spartan win.


COACH OF THE WEEK

Barry Hamler - Elizabeth City State

Hamler guided the Vikings to a 2-0 Week with 2 big wins against CIAA opponents Livingstone, 107-89, and Norfolk State, 73-64.

 


WOMEN

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Michelle Sessoms - Norfolk State, SR, C, 6'1, Portsmouth, VA

In three games last week, Sessoms had 62 points, 30 rebounds, 7 assists and fifteen steals. Her best performance came against Livingstone where she scored 26 points, pulled down 9 rebounds, handed out an assist and stole the ball nine times.


NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

Christy Brooks - Winston-Salem State, JR, C, 6'1, Cedar Grove, NC

Brooks finished the week with 27 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 3 blocked shots. Her best game came against Johnson C. Smith where she scored 25 points; grabbed 9 rebounds and had an assist and a steal.


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Charlette Payton - Norfolk State, FR, G, 5'8, Virginia Beach, VA

In the game against Virginia Union, Payton had 20 points, 3 rebounds, an assist and two steals. She finished the week with 40 points, is rebounds, 8 assists, and 6 steals.


COACH OF THE WEEK

James Sweat - Norfolk State

Coach Sweat's team went 3-0 for the week defeating Livingstone, 81-48, Virginia Union, 90-54, and Elizabeth City State, 89-56. Sweat recorded his 400th career win by defeating Virginia Union Thursday night.


WOMEN'S NEWS NOTES

Norfolk State's Michelle Seasons went over the 1,000 point mark for her NSU career.
