Player of the Week

Trecia Lewis - Virginia State, SR, F/C, 6'0, Washington, DC

Lewis had an outstanding 3-game week, finishing with 64 points, 31 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 5 blocked shots. Her best performance was against Morris College where she displayed her skills scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocked shots and a steal.

Newcomer of the Week

Tammy Brown - Fayetteville State, JR, G,, 5'8, Annapolis, MD

Brown chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in the game against Virginia Union. She finished the week with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals.

Rookie of the Week

Beverly Windstead - Bowie State, FR, G, 5'8, Roxboro, NC

Windstead had an impressive game against Winston-Salem State where she finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. She finished the week with 30 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 7 steals and a blocked shot.

Coach of the Week

Eric Tucker - Fayetteville State

Coach Tucker guided the Lady Broncos to victory in the Norfolk State Spartanette Invitational. They defeated Virginia Union, 65-52, and Norfolk State, 95-71. The win over Norfolk State was the first since 1986.

MEN

Player of the Week

Damian Keyes - Bowie State, JR, F, 6'5" 215, Woodbridge, VA

Keyes' best performance came against Shaw where he scored 29 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, handed out 3 assists and stole the ball once. He finished the week with 87 points, 33 rebounds, 10 assists and 8 steals.

Newcomer of the Week

Michael Broadnax - Winston-Salem State, JR, F, 616, 195, Eden, NC

In two games this week, Broadnax finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. His best game was against High Point University where he had 16 points, 8 rebounds and two steals.

Rookie of the Week

William Tatum - Fayetteville State, FR,G,610,165, Fayetteville, NC

Tatum finished the week with 29 points, 2 steals and a blocked shot. His best performance came against Clark-Atlanta where he scored 13 points, grabbed a rebound and had one steal.

Coach of the Week

Samuel Hanger - Winston-Salem State

Coach Hanger led his team to a 2-0 week, defeating Bowie State, 91-76, and High Point College, 73-61. The Rams are off to a 5-0 start this season.
