Maryland-Eastern Shore (UMES) has named Arturo Ormond as the assistant men's basketball coach. Ormond will replace former assistant Sean Alvardo.Prior to his appointment, Ormond served as assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, TX for the past two seasons. From 1994-1995, Ormond served as assistant men's basketball coach at Tuskegee under then head coach Lonnie Williams.
Ormond is a graduate of the University of Texas Pan American, where he received both his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Education Degrees in Physical Education.
Ormond's primary responsibilities will include assisting with the recruiting, monitoring the academic progress of the men's basketball team, and assisting with various on court duties.
"I am excited about having Coach Ormond back on my staff," said head coach Lonnie Williams. "He has the experience, enthusiasm, and work ethics needed to succeed at this level. He is a great addition to the program"
