Coppin State College women's basketball coach Britt King has hired Jennie Hall and Jack Arum as assistant coaches.Hall, who has served as an assistant at the University of Vermont for the past three years, was an All-Atlantic 10 performer at Rutgers before a successfull professional career in Finland, Sweden, Spain, Italy and New Zealand.
"I played at a high level in college and as a professional, and I know the work ethic it takes to get the job done," said Hall, a Street and Smith All-American who was named as one of the top 30 players in the country by The New York Times in 1983.
The Norristown, PA native scored 1,104 points in her career and currently ranks 14th on Rutgers' career scoring list. She was a first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection and was honored with the Singer Headley award as Rutger's Outstanding Female Athlete as a senior. As a junior, she helped Rutgers to the Atlantic Interscholastic Association for Women (AIAW) National Championship.
She received her bachelor of arts degree in international and intercultural communications from Rutgers in 1983.
"Jennie has a great deal of experience as both a player and a coach," said King, who was named the fourth coach in Coppin history on May 19. "She was an All-American in college and had an outstanding career as a professional player. She has a tremendous amount of knowledge to pass down to our players and will be a benefit to our program."
Hall got her start in collegiate coaching in 1989 at George Washington where she served as an assistant for one season. After returning overseas to play professionally for two more seasons, she accepted a position at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she was an assistant coach for three seasons. She moved on to Vermont in 1994.
Arum, a native of Kenya, has served as an assistant with the men's program at Morgan State for the last two years. He has worked as a coach and couselor at the Georgetown Summer Basketball camp since 1993 and assisted John Thompson in identifying international recruits for the Hoyas.
Arum was a member of the 1981 African Junior National Championship team and served as an assistant coach of the 1993 Kenyan National team.
