Onnidan's HBCUSports | Jackson State's Lindsey Hunter named Interim Head Coach of the Phoenix Suns
Two days after a "mutual" parting of the ways with Alvin Gentry, the Phoenix Suns have named former Jackson State standout Lindsey Hunter as interim head coach. Hunter Hunter, who had been the team's player development director after serving as a scout last season, has no head coaching experience. He spent 17 years on various NBA rosters and was a part of 12 playoff teams and two championships (2001-02 Lakers and 2003-04 Pistons).
Following a stellar career at Jackson State where he is still the second-leading scorer in school history, Hunter was the 10th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in 1993.
