(5/17/12) Shaw University head football coach Robert Massey has completed his football coaching staff.  Massey keeps a number of the coaches collected by former head coach Darrell Asberry, while adding three new members to the staff.
New additions include Maurice Flowers as Associate Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator and QB coach; De'Andre Okonji as wide receivers coach and Marcus Webb as tackles/tight ends coach.  Richard Gray (offensive line), Markus McElveen (defensive line), Felton Page (running backs), Kenneth Williams (defensive backs) and Sherman Simmons (linebackers) were retained from the previous staff.

(5/14/12) The Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics has hired Carl Smalls as the new Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing and Fundraising. His primary responsibility is increasing the visibility of Winston-Salem State University's athletic programs through the management of all athletic marketing and event management, fund development and corporate sponsorships.

(5/12/12) Sean Woods, who has spent time with five Division I men’s basketball programs and led Mississippi Valley State to the 2012 NCAA Tournament, has been named head coach at Morehead State University.

(5/4/12) Nate Kilbert, the reigning SWAC coach-of-the-year who led Mississippi Valley State University to the 2011-12 league championship and to a berth in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament, has been chosen as the new head coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

(5/4/12) The Chowan University Department of Athletics has announced the appointment of Makini Thompson as the new head coach for volleyball. Thompson comes to Chowan with a diverse playing and coaching background. Thompson will serve as the program's third head coach since transitioning to NCAA DII status in 2006. She replaces Peter Green, who resigned his position as head coach in March.

(5/2/12) Saint Augustine's College has added two assistant coaches to its athletic staff. Chris Parker will be an assistant football coach while Jarita Crump returns to be an assistant coach for women's basketball. Parker joined the Falcons’ football staff as safeties coach after spending the 2011 season as secondary coach with the Omaha Knighthawks of the United Football League. Crump returns to the Lady Falcons basketball staff after spending the 2011-12 season at Leesville Road High School where she was head varsity girls basketball coach.

(5/2/12) North Carolina A&T has named Tarrell Robinson to head its women's basketball program. He succeeds Patricia Cage-Bibbs who resigned last month to take the head women's basketball coaching position at Grambling State University. Robinson, 34, served as an assistant coach to Bibbs for four seasons. Prior to the 2008-09 season, he was promoted to associate head coach. Robinson has spent the past three seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University as an assistant coach.

(5/1/12) Bryan Hicks has been named the next athletic director at Alabama A&M University.  He succeeds Betty Austin who retired at the end of February. Hicks previously served as Missouri State's associate athletics director for student development.

(5/1/12) Kyetta May, the highly successful head women’s volleyball coach at Kentucky State University, has been selected as the new coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. In five years as KSU's head coach, May led the volleyball program to back-to-back Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) championships in 2010 and 2011. Her teams finished in second place in 2008 and 2009. She was tabbed conference coach-of-the-year three times, in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
