Hartly, DE – The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff edges out Bethune-Cookman to top the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) final 2012 FCS Division I poll. Winston-Salem State finished on top of the Division II Poll. Both teams will lay claim to the HSRN Conaway Cup, named in honor HSRN Co-Founder LeCounte Conaway, indicative of the HSRN National Champion in the respective divisions. Just like their come-from-behind finish win in the SWAC Championship game, the Golden Lions of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (10-2), edged the MEAC Champion Wildcats, of Bethune-Cookman (9-3) at the end to capture the top spot in final 2012 HSRN FCS Division I Poll. Tennessee State (8-3) finished third in the final poll, despite claiming wins over both teams (UAPF/BCU) during the regular season. The final FCS Division I Poll rankings have Alabama State (7-4) and North Carolina A&T (7-4) holding on to fourth and fifth respectively. Jackson State (7-5) rose from ninth to sixth place and Howard (7-4) rose from tenth to seventh in the final poll. The last three schools, Delaware State (6-5), Alabama A&M (7-4) and North Carolina Central (6-5) fell from fifth, seventh and eighth places respectively. Winston-Salem State (14-1), fell one game short of perfection in the NCAA Championship game, claimed their second consecutive HSRN Conaway Cup title, after leading the 2012 HSRN Division II Poll from wire-to-wire. The Vikings of Elizabeth City State (8-4) rode their 28-13 Pioneer Bowl victory over Tuskegee (10-2) to rise from fifth place and finish at second ahead of the Golden Tigers. The Division II rankings saw two other teams slip down a spot after the shuffling at the top. Miles (8-3) and Ft. Valley State (8-4) slipped from third and fourth, to fourth and fifth. Chowan (6-4), St. Augustine’s (6-4), Albany State (6-4), Johnson C.
