MORANT ADVANCES: Florida A&M
sprinter Sheldon Morant qualified for the 2003
World Championships in the 100-meter dash Saturday with a
third-place finish in the Jamaican National Championships.
Morant, a member of FAMU's all-American 4x100 relay team, ran
a personal-best time of 10.25 in the Jamaican finals.
Morant finished fourth in the 100 meters at the
Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships with a time of
10.73 seconds and ran a 10.49 in prelims at the NCAA
Championships, .03 of a second from making the finals.
BCSIDA TO MEET: The Black College Sports Information Directors Association (BCSIDA) will hold
its annual meeting Monday, June 30 at the College
Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Annual
Workshop in Cleveland. The workshop is set for Sunday, June
29 thru Wednesday, July 2 at the Renaissance Cleveland
Hotel. BCSIDA President Bill
Hamilton, SID at South Carolina State, will preside over the meeting which is expected
to draw participants from over 50 HBCUs and all four
black college conferences. Carol Hudson, current SID at
Old Dominion University and former SID at Hampton
University and former BCSIDA president, currently serves on
the Executive Board of CoSIDA.
