Spring Championship Schedules

CIAA 
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association will host the first segment of its Spring Sports Championships in Charlotte, N.C., this weekend with the Outdoor Track & Field Championship Friday and Saturday (April 18-19) on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University with events beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Baseball Tournament begins the second segment of Spring championships with a play-in game and the championship tournament beginning April 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va. The championship tournament begins at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24 and runs through Saturday at 1 p.m.

The second segment continues in Charlotte, N.C., with the golf, tennis and softball championships being held Thursday through Saturday, April 24-26. Golf will be contested on April 24-25 at the Rocky River Golf Course in Charlotte. Play begins Thursday at 10 a.m. and Friday at the same time.

Tennis and softball play will begin Thursday and run through Saturday at the Hornets Nest complex in Charlotte. Tennis begins at 9 a.m. Thursday and runs through Saturday's 8 a.m. finals. Softball gets under way Thursday at 12 noon and runs through Saturday's 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. final game.

MEAC
All of the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Spring Sports Championships will be held in Orlando, Florida beginning next weekend.

Play begins with the tennis championships scheduled for April 24-26 at the Lake Cane Tennis Courts in the city.

The Spring Carvinal, which includes outdoor track and field, baseball and softball, heads to the Disney Wide World of Sports Facility in Orlando, May 8-11.

The track and field championships will be contested on May 8-10. Baseball and softball are scheduled for May 8-11.

SIAC
Miles and Albany State have captured division titles in the race to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Championship. The Golden Bears had the best overall record in the conference with a 17-1 mark and finished first in the SIAC Western Division. ASU topped the Eastern Division, finishing with a 14-2 conference slate.

Tournament play begins Thursday morning April 17 at 9:00 a.m. at the Tri-Cities High School and Perkerson Park in Atlanta.

The SIAC Softball championships will be staged at the Southside Park Complex in Atlanta Thursday (April 17). The championship game will be played at Clark Atlanta University on Saturday.

Men's and women's Track and Field championships will be contested at Morehouse's B. T. Harvey Stadium beginning Thursday. The women's competition begins at 7:00 a.m. with the men getting under way at 7:30 a.m.

Tennis begins Friday, April 18, on the Morehouse Tennis Courts and concludes on Saturday.

SWAC
The 2003 Southwestern Athletic Conference spring championships will get underway this weekend with the Men's and Women's Golf Championship tournament April 15-17 in the Houston area. All ten SWAC schools will be represented at the Golf Championships. Jackson State University is the defending champion in both Men and Women's Golf.

The women's championship will be conducted Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15-16 and the men's championship will be conducted Tuesday through Thursday, April 15-17 at the Lake Windcrest Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas.

This Friday and Saturday (4/18-4/19), the SWAC Tennis Championships will be conducted at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. The top two East and West division teams in the Men's and Women's categories will begin match play at 8:00 a.m. on Southern University's Courts. Southern's men and women hold the 2002 titles.

Track and Field championships will be contested May 2-4 at the new state-of-the-art facility on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Ms.

Both Baseball and Softball championship tournaments will be held May 2-4 at Lee-Hines Field on Southern University's campus in Baton Rouge.
