MEN'S BCSP HOOPS TOP TEN

1. HAMPTON (10-4) - New coach Bobby Collins has Pirates atop the MEAC with 6-0 mark. Key Game: At SC State on Jan. 27.

2. BOWIE STATE (14-1) - Best in CIAA (8-0) and 14th best (ranking) in NCAA Div. II. KEY GAME: Hosting Eliz. City St. on Jan. 28.

3. PRAIRIE VIEW (6-7) - Also unbeaten in the SWAC (5-0). Key Game: At Miss. Valley State Saturday (1/25).

4. SOUTH CAROLINA STATE (7-7) - Keeping pace with Hampton in MEAC (5-0). KEY GAME: Facing Norfolk State Saturday (1/25).

5. TEXAS SOUTHERN (8-6) - Only loss in SWAC (4-1) to Prairie View, 59-57. KEY GAME: At Miss. Valley State, Monday (1/27).

6. ALABAMA STATE (8-7) -Hornets are 5-0 in SWAC play but lost star center Alvin Pettway to knee injury. KEY GAME: Hosting defending SWAC champ Alcorn State Monday (1/27).

7. NORFOLK STATE (8-7) - Dwight Freeman has Spartans playing well (5-1 in MEAC). KEY GAME: At S. C. State Saturday (1/25).

8. MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE (4-10) - 3-2 in SWAC with losses to Alabama State and Alcorn State. KEY GAME: Hosting Texas Southern, Jan. 25.

9. FLORIDA A&M (7-7) Rattlers with second-year coach Mike Gillespie have recent wins over Norfolk State and Howard with a narrow loss to Hampton. KEY GAME: Coppin St., 1/27.

10. N. C. CENTRAL (9-7 - Eagles have won six of seven to move to top of CIAA West Division. KEY GAME: Hosting J. C. Smith on Jan. 29.
