Weekend Preview
Fayetteville State holds keys to CIAA

Fayetteville State (7-1, 5-0 CIAA W), who clinched the CIAA West Div. title last week, can all but determine its East Div. opponent for the Nov. 16 CIAA Championship Game in Winston-Salem, N. C., though the race is certain to come down to the last week of the regular season.

The Broncos host Bowie State (5-3, 4-1 CIAA E) this Saturday and then take on Virginia Union (6-2, 4-1 CIAA E) on the last Saturday of the regular season (Nov. 9). BSU and VUU are tied with Virginia State (6-2, 4-1 CIAA E) for the E. Div. lead headed into this weekend's games. VSU and VUU meet this Saturday in Richmond at the Gold Bowl (televised live on the CIAA Syndicated Network and on MBC). Virginia State is at Bowie State on Nov. 9.

In the MEAC, BCSP #1 and MEAC leader Bethune-Cookman (8-0, 4-0) tries to keep its record clean at N. C. A&T (3-5, 1-3). S. C. State (6-2, 3-1) plays at Delaware State and Hampton (5-3, 3-1) travels to Florida A&M (5-3, 2-2).

Grambling (7-1, 4-0), the SWAC W. Div. leader is at Texas Southern for homecoming. Southern's matchup with Alcorn State (5-2, 3-1 SWAC E), the second place team behind idle Alabama A&M (6-2, 4-0) in the East, in Baton Rouge does not count on the SWAC divisional ledger.
