WHO ARE THE BEST PERFORMERS IN BLACK COLLEGE SPORTS

- HOW THEY DID IT -

 MORGAN STATE 30, N. C. A&T 13

After close losses to Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman, Morgan State (2-4, 1-2 MEAC) finally grabbed a big scalp as they rushed for 305 yards and totalled 572 yards of offense in spoiling homecoming for the Aggies (3-3, 1-1 MEAC). RB T. J. Stallings had 142 rushing yards on 28 carries with one score while the QB tandem of Bradshaw Littlejohn (11-85) and Lejominick Washington (6-65) added 149 yards on the ground. Washington ran for a score while Littlejohn hit William Sherman with a 53-yard scoring strike with 1:32 left after the Aggies had pulled to within 16-13 early in the fourth quarter.

 ALBANY STATE 40, Tuskegee 20

Albany State (3-3, 2-1 SIAC) knocked Tuskegee (5-1, 3-1 SIAC) from the unbeaten ranks ending an 11-game Golden Tigers win streak and 16-game home win streak in the process. The Golden Rams fought back from a 20-7 second quarter deficit to score 33 unanswered points. QBs Marcus James and Warin Major combined to pass for 304 yards and three TDs.

ALABAMA STATE 24, Jackson State 20

The blitzing defense of Alabama State (5-2, 2-2 SIAC) kept Jackson State star QB Robert Kent from getting into a rhythm en route to a key SWAC E. Division win. Kent, constantly harassed by blitzing linebackers and sacked four times, finished with 19 completions in 32 attempts and no TDs. His ASU counterpart, Jermaine Crenshaw was more effective throwing for 203 yards and a TD. ASU RB Jatavious Abrams rushed for 83 yards on 17 carries including a six-yard second quarter TD run.

 HOWARD 28, Florida A&M 24

Howard (3-2, 1-1 MEAC) scored on a 37-yard Donald Clark to Jonathan Brewer TD pass with 2:34 left to play to hand Florida A&M (4-3, 2-2 MEAC) its second home loss in a row. Howard won for the first time ever at FAMU's Bragg Stadium just as South Carolina State did the week before and did so despite turning the ball over six times and having two TDs called back because of penalties.

FAYETTEVILLE STATE 21, North Carolina Central 7

Fayetteville State (5-1, 4-0 CIAA W) scored all its points off three NCCU (3-3, 1-2 CIAA W) fumbles to move a step closer to its first CIAA W. Division title.
