Tuskegee RB Cortlandt Florence's 11-yard run to paydirt six plays into OT proved to be the difference. Florence topped the 100-yard mark for the third straight game, getting 136 on 26 carries but the rest of the team managed just 63 yards of offense. The TU defense picked off Benedict QB Marcus Walker four times.

 HAMPTON 51. Howard 2
Hampton (2-1, 1-0 MEAC) dominated Howard (1-1, 0-1 MEAC) racking up 324 rushing yards and holding the Bison to 200 net yards in a key MEAC matchup. WR Zuriel Smith caught a 57-yard TD toss from Tim Frazier and returned a punt 77 yards to paydirt. Howard QB Donald Clark, who threw for five TDs a week earlier against Texas Southern, was held to 13 completions in 32 attempts for 136 yards and was sacked six times, four by Hampton DE Isaac Hilton.

JSU QB Robert Kent, plagued by interceptions in two losses to start the season, hit on 18 of 34 passes for 246 yards with no TDs but also without a pick and RB Tanaka Counselor rushed for 128 yards and a pair of TDs. Kent did have a two-yard TD run. JSU's defense picked off three TSU passes.

The Delta Devils (1-1, 0-0 SWAC E) got 319 passing yards from QB Carey Weaver to win their first game in 13 tries and give head coach Willie Totten his first head coaching victory. Weaver hit on 22 of 27 passes for three TDs and did not have an interception. A 53-yard DSU field goal attempt with a minute left fell short.

 CLARK ATLANTA 14, Miles 7
Clark Atlanta (2-1, 1-1 SIAC) scored two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to down Miles (1-2, 1-1 SIAC). RB Terrance Smith, who led the Panthers with 150 yards on just nine carries, scored from 48 yards out and Dominique Brown ran 33 yards for a score for the winning margin.
