FINAL 2001 BCSP TOP 101. TUSKEGEE (11-1) - Upset loss to Morehouse prevents back-to-back perfect seasons for Rick Comegy's Golden Tigers. Repeat SIAC and Pioneer Bowl champs. 1. (tie) GRAMBLING STATE (10-1) - One touchdown from a perfect season, Doug Williams' Tigers gain share of 2001 top spot after finishing just behind Tuskegee last year. Repeated as SWAC champions. 3. TENNESSEE StATE (8-3) - Blue Tigers dominated black college opponents, struggled in OVC. 4. ALABAMA STATE (8-4) - SWAC E. Div. champs lost to Grambling in SWAC title game. 5. JACKSON STATE (7-4) - Tied for second in SWAC East.. 6. SOUTHERN (7-4) - Finished second in SWAC West. 7 . FLORIDA A&M (7-4) - Repeat MEAC champs fell to Ga. Southern in first round I-AA playoff game. 8. HAMPTON (7-4) - Finished second in MEAC. 9. N. C. A&T (8-3) - Faded after Injury to star RB Maurice Hicks. Tied for third in MEAC. 10. BETHUNE-COOKMAN (6-4) - Tied for third in MEAC. (TIE). FORT VALLEY STATE (8-3) - Same record as Tuskegee in SIAC, lost in first round of Div. II playoffs.
