  • SWAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
    PAUL HAYNES, 6-8, So., F, Grambling State - In seven games, averaging 22.4 points per game, 8.9 rebounds and is shooting .841 from the free throw line as the Tigers got off to a 2-5 start. Haynes has led GSU in all seven games including a season-high 29 against Villanova.

    JACKLYN WINFIELD, Sr., G, Southern - In nine games, has led Southern to wins over Georgia Tech, S. C. State and Florida A&M averaging 3.2 steals, 20.0 points per game with a high of 28 against S. Alabama. Earned MVP of U. S. Cellular Classic and all-tournament in the Auburn Tip-Off Classic.

  • SIAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
    JASON PRUITT, Sr., G, Kentucky State - Led Thorobreds to 2-1 record, averaging 21 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.7 steals.

    SHENIKA TARPKINS, Fr., G, Fort Valley State - Averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals while leading the Lady Wildcats to a 2-0 record.

    OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
    Amos Conyers, Tuskegee - Averaged 28 points, six rebounds and two steals in two Golden Tiger games.

    Jonathan Nelson, Fort Valley State - Averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.5 assists as Wildcats split two games.

  • MEAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
    TOMMY ADAMS, 6-3, Sr., G, Hampton - In three games, Adams was 24 of 51 from the field, 17 of 25 from behind the arc, hit 14 of 17 free throws, had ten assists and five steals in three victories. Adams had a career-high 32 vs. Morgan State.

    SUWANNA TAYLOR, Sr., F, Norfolk State - Had 47 points and 21 rebounds in wins over Morgan State and Coppin State. She connected on 13 of 25 shots from the field and 20 of 30 free throws and added five assists and five steals.

    ROOKIE
    TERRELLE WALKER, Fr., G, Delaware State - Totalled 37 points and dished out ten assists in three games. Walker had 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a win over NC A&T.

    DEVIN GREEN, 6-6, Fr., G, Hampton - Averaged 8.3 points in three Pirate victories including getting 14 points, five rebounds and two steals vs. Morgan State.

  • CIAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
    ANTOINE SIMS, 5-10, Sr., G, Johnson C. Smith - Averaged 24 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two victories. Against Elizabeth City, he had four three-pointers on his way to a 29-point night.

    LaTOYA TAYLOR, Jr., G, Virginia Union - Had a career-high 39 points, canning seven of ten three-pointers in a 99-92 loss to Voorhees. Taylor totalled 52 points, 11 rebounds and five steals in two games.

    ROOKIE
    DUAN CROCKETT, 6-6, Fr., F, Virginia Union - In two games, he totalled 36 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and one steal

    LASHONDRA HORTON, Fr., F, Winston-Salem State - Recorded her fourth double-double of the season, getting 11 pts. and 10 reb. vs. Coker.

    COACH
    PHILLIP STITT, Winston-Salem State - Has Rams on six-game winning streak after opening with loss to Bowie State.

    JOLI ROBINSON, North Carolina Central - Led 5-3 Lady Eagles to 62-50 upset of 17th-ranked Francis Marion.
