Brent Alexander
5-11, 200, FS, Pittsburgh Steelers (8th year, Tennessee State)
The Tennessee State product had three tackles, a spectacular
one-handed interception, and a sack for -5 yards as the Steelers ended
an eight-game losing streak to the Tennessee Titans with a 34-7 win
in Pittsburgh. Alexander called defensive signals for a secondary
that helped hold quarterback Steve McNair and the Titans offense to
57 rushing yards on 24 carries and 175 passing yards.
Jason Brookins
6-0, 235, RB, Baltimore Ravens (1st year, LANE)
Ran 19 times for 82 yards and a touchdown as the Ravens downed Jacksonville,
18-17 on a late fourth quarter touchdown. Brookins ran in a two-yard run with
9:48 left to set the stage for a Randall Cunningham to Qadry Ismail TD that put
the Ravens up.

THEIR STARS HAVE RISEN: Baltimore Ravens' RB Jason Brookins (44) from Lane College and New
York Giants' DE Michael Strahan (92) out of Texas Southern University have been among the brightest
stars through the first half of the NFL season. Brookins has filled in for Jamal Lewis and Terry Allen and
currently ranks 16th among AFC rushers with 308 yards on 77 carries (4.0 ypc.) with 3 TDs. Strahan leads
the entire NFL with 14 sacks through eight games and set a new NFL record by piling up 12 1/2 sacks over a
five-game span.
