ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 28, Texas Southern 22
UAPB kick returner Mark Bradley brought back two punts (58 and
77 yards) for touchdowns to stake the Golden Lions (3-1, 1-1 SWAC W) to a lead
over TSU (2-3, 1-2 SWAC W) they would not relinquish.
BETHUNE COOKMAN 49, Delaware State 24
B-CC QB Allen Suber passed for 212 yards and threw three TD passes,
two to Tarion Hubbard, as the Wildcats (4-1, 3-0 MEAC) downed the
Hornets (1-4, 0-3 MEAC). B-CC RB Eric Lash also had two TDs.
FAYETTEVILLE STATE 14, N. C. Central 13
Fayetteville State (4-2, 2-1 CIAA W) scored all their points on kick
returns, a 100-yard kickoff return from Karmal Watkins and a 81-yard punt
return by Elliot London and held off repeated assaults to down NCC (3-2,
1-1 CIAA W).
MORGAN STATE 52, N. C. A&T 42
Morgan State (1-4, 1-3 MEAC) got their first conference win in three
years as QB Lejominick Washington (27-39-1) set a school and near-MEAC
record with 551 yards passing. Washington hit for four TD tosses and ran in three
scores (4, 3, and 1 yards) for the Bears. He also added a two-point conversion.
A&T (3-1, 1-1 MEAC) tailback Maurice Hicks set a new MEAC and NCAA
Div. I record, rushing for 437 yards and four TDs (79, 9, 9, and 52 yards). Hicks
sat out the last 6:55 with a hip injury.
ALABAMA STATE 61, Jackson State 13
Alabama State (2-2, 1-1 SWAC E) survived 595 passing yards and six TD
passes from JSU QB Robert Kent to spoil homecoming in Jackson. ASU QB Darnell
Kennedy threw for five TDs and the Hornet defense scored twice on a fumble
and an interception return.
TUSKEGEE 35, Albany State 15
After trailing 8-7 at the half, Tuskegee (4-0, 1-0 SIAC) came back against
Albany State (3-3, 2-1 SIAC) to remain undefeated. RB Bobby Wilson ran
for 117 yards and two second half TDs (5, 52) and Jeffrey Stanton had a
75-yard punt return for a score.
