Games To Watch . . .
PREDICTION: Southern 37, Jackson State 32
NC Central (3-2, 1-1 CIAA W) at Winston-Salem State (4-2, 2-1 CIAA W) - If the numbers are any indication, this CIAA West Division showdown should could come down to a battle of defenses. NCCU has given up only 13 points per game while WSSU surrenders just over 14. NCCU scores at a 26.4 clip, WSSU puts up 22.3. Translation: A close game. Key words: Overtime, field goal. PREDICTION: WSSU 16, NCCU 13
Grambling (4-0, 2-0 SWAC W) vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-1, 1-1 SWAC W) in Shreveport, LA - This may be the only chance UAPB has to get back in the SWAC Western Division race. Their vaunted rushing attack from a year ago (248 ypg.) will have to resurface (125 ypg. in 2001) for them to have a chance against the BCSP #1 Tigers. Not this time. PREDICTION: Grambling 32, UAPB 18
Tuskegee (4-0, 1-0 SIAC) vs. Morehouse (2-2, 1-1 SIAC) in Columbus, GA - It will take an inspired effort by "The House" to stay with the Golden Tigers and that's usually what they get in black college's oldest classic. They'll go down fighting, but they'll go down. PREDICTION: Tuskegee 38, Morehouse 24
Florida A&M (4-1, 4-0 MEAC) at N. C. A&T (3-1, 1-1 MEAC) for homecoming - A&T was burned by Morgan State (52-42) with a no-huddle, shotgun attack that is Florida A&M's forte. But FAMU will have to play their best game to beat back a fired-up Aggie contingent. The Rattlers are not that good. PREDICTION: A&T 38, Florida A&M 27
Fayetteville State (4-2, 2-1 CIAA W) at Virginia State (3-2, 2-0) - The VSU Trojans are the only undefeated team left in CIAA play but this will be their first real test. FSU has shown they can stand the heat with a win over NC Central and a tough loss to Winston-Salem State. That experience will be the difference. PREDICTION: Fayetteville State 17, Virginia State 15
