BCSP Notes . . .

  • The defending champion Lincoln University men and women's track teams failed to repeat at the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois over the weekend.

The men tallied 60 points to finish behind Wisconsin-LaCrosse (80) while the women (47) finished third behind champion Wheaton College (83.5) and runners-up Calvin College (49). Lincoln head coach Cyrus Jones' teams were led by junior sensation Rhondale Jones, who repeated with titles in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 100 meter hurdles. She anchored the 4x100 relay team that finished second. For the men, sprinter Chaz Clemens repeated as the 100 meter champion, finished fourth in the 200 and anchored the winning 4x100 meter relay team.

  • Grambling State University athletes proved as productive in the classroom as on the field as 54 of the school's student-athletes picked up diplomas at GSU commencement at Eddie G. Robinson Stadium.

Every GSU sport had at least one student graduate and the 54 students picked up diplomas after 22 student athletes received their degrees during winter commencement exercises.
