  • SIAC Spring Champs

    Albany State won the 2001 SIAC Baseball Championship as they defeated Kentucky State 7-5, in the championship game Saturday at Golden Rams Park in Albany. The Golden Rams are coached by first-year ASU coach Stanley Stubbs, who becomes the first coach to win back-to-back titles at two SIAC schools. Stubbs' Paine team won the 2000 championship. Fort Valley State's women won both the track and field and softball championships while the men of Morehouse took home titles in track and field and tennis. The women's tennis title was captured by Tuskegee. [recap]

  • CIAA Spring Champs
    Saint Augustine's captured both the men's and women's team titles at the CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Durham, N.C. Saturday. The wins mark the fifth consecutive title for the women and the fourth straight for the men. The men of Johnson C. Smith won their third straight CIAA tennis championship. JCSU played Shaw in each of the championship matches winning six of the seven matches. Fayetteville State edged St. Aug's 628 to 639 to take the golf title. [recap]
