Hampton took over sole possession of first place in the MEAC with a 86-75 home win over NC A&T Monday. The Pirates' win coupled with S. C. State's loss across the Chesapeaker Bay at Norfolk State Monday means the Pirates will play for their first MEAC regular season championship at home Saturday in their season finale against Norfolk State. Point guard Marseilles Brown led the Pirates Monday with 25 points including six three-pointers. Senior center Tarvis Williams added 23 points. James Miller led A&T with 22 points while Bruce Jenkins had 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Hampton
put South Carolina State away with a late 9-0 run and went on to top the Bulldogs 87-75 before their largest home crowd of the season (5,025) Saturday.
