CIAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
PLAYER
Brandon Byerson, 6-1, Sr., G, VUU - Nailed 5 3-pointers en route to game-high 26 points in win over Livingstone. Shot 5-of-7 from distance and 7-of-9 from the field along with 7 of 8 free throws.
ROOKIE
Blake Price, 5-10, Fr., G, ECSU - Scored 21 points with 4 assists and 4 rebounds in win over FSU. Made 8 of 11 FGs, 2 of 3 3s, and 3 of 5 free throws.
NEWCOMER
Paul Goldsmith, 6-6, So., F, ECSU - Had double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in win over FSU.
COACH
Darrel Brooks, BSU - Improved to 4-1 in conference after win over St. Augustine's

MEAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
PLAYER
Reggie Holmes, 6-4, Sr., G, MSU - Scored 23 points including 4 of 7 3-pointers in win over Long Island. Also had 25 points, 3 steals and 1 assist vs. E. Kentucky. Had just 11 vs. Robert Morris.
DEFENSE
Kevin Thompson, 6-8, So., F, MSU - Scored 13 points, had 17 rebounds and 2 blocks in win over Long Island, 14 points and 9 boards in loss to EKU. Added 19 point in loss Monday to Robert Morris.
ROOKIE
Dewayne Jackson, 6-6, Fr., F, MSU - Came off the bench to score 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting, and also had 7 rebounds in win over Long Island. Did not score vs. EKU.

PLAYER
Travelle Jones, 6-8, Jr., F, TSU - Had game highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds off the bench in win over Alcorn State Monday. Converted 7 of 12 shots from the field and 9 of 10 free throws. Also had 4 steals. One of three TSU players among SWAC scoring leaders at 15.2 ppg.
NEWCOMER
Tyrone Hanson, 6-7, Jr., F, JSU - Tallied 19 points, canning 6 of 10 from the field, 3 of 4 3-pointers and 4 of 6 FTs, and pulled down 8 rebounds in win over Alabama A&M Monday. Averagaing 13.7 points per game as transfer from Arkansas-Fort Smith.

INDEPENDENT PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

PLAYER
George Gray, 5-9, So., G, FMU - Averaged 27.5 points in two games also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4 steals. Had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals vs. Barry and 34 points, 5 assists and 5 steals vs. Lynn.
Sharif Bray, 6-3, Jr., G, CHEYNEY - Averaged 25 points in two losses over the last week, getting 31 points vs. Slippery Rock and 19 vs. Mercyhurst. Had another 17 in loss to UDC.

WOMEN

CIAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
PLAYER
Tonaye Smith, Sr., G/F, VUU - Scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in win over Livingstone.
ROOKIE
Kelcyn Manurs, Fr., F, LC - Scored 9 points, all on 3-pointers, and dished out 5 assists vs.VUU.
NEWCOMER
Brianna Taylor, Jr., G, BSU - Had career-highs of 11 points and six rebounds vs. St. Aug's
COACH
James Hill, Virginia State - Guided Lady Trojans to win over 18th-ranked JC Smith. First win for VSU over JCSU in Charlotte since 1995-96 season.

MEAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
PLAYER
Zykia Brown, Jr., G, HOWARD - Scored 29 points including game-tying 3-pointer to send game into overtime. Connected on 10 of 20 field goals, 3 of 9 3-pointers in win over Holy Cross. Added 12 points in loss to Monmouth.
DEFENSE and ROOKIE
Saadia Doyle, Fr., F, HOWARD - Scored 31 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in win over Holy Cross. Also had 23 points and 8 boards vs. Monmouth. In two games was 19 of 28 from the field and 16 of 17 from the free throw line with 22 rebounds.

INDEPENDENT PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
PLAYER
Alixandria Barnette, 5-7, Sr., G, WVSU, E. Chapel Hill, NC - Averaged 16.3 points per game in three victories by the Lady Jackets. She tallied 18 points and had 5 rebounds in win over Shippensburg, 14 points in win over WAU and 17 in win over UDC.
