HARRIS TO LEAD CSU WOMEN: Kellen Winslow, Director of Athletics and Student Wellness at Central State University, has announced that Sheba Harris has been selected to lead the Lady Marauders Basketball program.

Harris has been the assistant women's coach since 2004. She received her undergraduate degree from Central State in 2002 in Manufacturing Engineering and received her Master's degree this May in Education with a focus on Media and Technology.

During her playing days at Central State, she was the program's MVP three times, a two time NAIA All-American and Honorable Mention Kodak All-American. She scored over 1,000 points during her career. She was also a Black College All-Star Game participant. She is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland, OH.

"Whenever you are chosen to be a head coach at your alma mater there is always a special significance with that," said Harris. "I am looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to continue the fine tradition of Lady Marauder Basketball."

ALCORN AD TO LIVINGSTONE: Dr. Darren J. Hamilton will be stepping down as Alcorn State University's athletic director to take the same position at Livingstone College in North Carolina.

Hamilton will remain on staff at Alcorn State through June 30th, before ending his tenure with the Braves.

Hamilton said the opening at Livingstone College was too good to pass up because of the school's tradition and the tradition of the CIAA basketball tournament.

HILL GETS 25-YEAR AWARD: Veteran Howard Sports Information Director Ed Hill is among thirteen (13) members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to receive 25-year awards at the organization's annual work-shop to be held June 21-25 in San Antonio, Texas. The recipients will be presented their awards at the awards luncheon on Tuesday, June 23.

Like many of his contemporaries, Edward Hill, Jr., started out as a journalist before gravitating to sports information, starting his career as an SID in 1983 as an Assistant SID at Howard. Hill was appointed Sports Information Director in March of 1986.

Before coming to Howard, Hill was a staff writer for the Winston-Salem Chronicle and the Black College Sports Review. He also worked as a news aide and freelance writer for the Washington Post Sports and Weekly sections for two years.

Hill has written stories that have appeared in such publications as USA Today, AOL Black Voices and The NCAA News. At Howard, Hill has participated in several NCAA championships in several sports. A member of CoSIDA since 1983 and he is also a member of the Black College Sports Information Directors of America (BCSIDA) and is active in the Washington, D.C. community where he served as head coach and co-founder and former coach of the DC Warriors youth basketball program.

Hill is an adjunct professor at Howard University where he teaches a class, Sports and the Media. He earned the 2005 Bob Kenworthy Award from CoSIDA for his community service outside the profession.
