HOW THEY DID IT - Game Recaps_ BCSP No. 1 Delaware State 23, Winston-Salem State 20 Placekicker Peter Gaertner kicked three field goals including his second straight game-winner, this one from 37 yards out with no time on the clock, to give the Hornets (8-1, 6-0) their sixth straight win, a comeback victory over WSSU (5-4). The Hornets trailed 20-12 entering the fourth quarter but put together two scoring drives in the final nine minutes. Gaertner also hit from 25 and 22 yards. QB Vashon Winton hit 21 of 29 passes for 238 yards without an interception including an 18-yard scoring toss to Shaheer McBride (10 rec., 91 yds., 1 TD) in the second quarter. _ No. 2 Grambling State 21, Alabama State 7 Grambling State (7-1, 7-0 W) overcame 15 penalties and a 115-yard rushing effort from ASU's Jay Peck to down the Hornets (4-5, 3-5). GSU QB Brandon Landers (20-30-1, 177 yards) threw two TD passes while the Tiger defense kept ASU out of the end zone until the game's final minute. _ No. 3 Tuskegee 51, Clark Atlanta 0 Tuskegee (9-0, 7-0) racked up a team record 695 yards of total offense and held Clark Atlanta to 116 total yards in staying undefeated. QB Jacary Atkinson completed 17 of 25 passes for 317 yards and three TDs. _ No. 5 Jackson State 43, No. 4 Alabama A&M 40, OT Jackson State (6-3, 6-1) scored on a one-yard plunge in overtime to finally put away Alabama A&M (7-2, 5-2) and take over the SWAC East lead. JSU outgained A&M 539 to 276 yards but had to score a TD and convert a PAT with :03 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Jeremy Licea's fourth field goal gave A&M a 40-37 lead in overtime before JSU's game-winning TD. JSU QB Jimmy Oliver connected on 26 of 43 passes for 391 yards and four TDs (43, 25, 30, 5). His 5-yard scoring toss to Rodney Gray, his second scoring reception, forced overtime. _ No. 7 Albany State 32, Fort Valley State 27 RB Lironne Davis scored on a 64-yard run with 1:29 left to give Albany State (8-2, 6-1) a big Fountain City Classic win over Fort Valley State (8-3, 5-2). FVSU WR Nate Randall caught three scoring tosses (4, 39, 11) from QB Garrett Williams (19-34-0, 243 yds.) and Jake Grubbs had two field goals, including a 36-yarder with 2:06 left to give the Wildcats a 27-26 lead. Four plays later Davis ripped off his game-winning run. ASU rushed for 240 yards. _ No. 8 Norfolk State 24, Morgan State 16 RB Darryl Jones rushed 30 times for 167 yards and two TDs as the Spartans (7-2, 6-1) won to set up their showdown with Delaware State for the MEAC title. NSU survived 215 rushing yards from MEAC rushing leader Chad Simpson. _ No. 10 Virginia Union 34, Fayetteville State 17 Virginia Union ran for 370 yards and all five of its touchdowns in downing Fayetteville State and taking the CIAA East title. QB Lamar Little ran for 121 yards (17 carries) and scored twice (1, 10) while T. Donaldson had 87 yards on 14 carries and scored on 10, 7 and 14-yard runs. Elihu Smith added 119 yards on 19 carries. _ Shaw 17, St. Augustine's 3 Shaw (7-3, 6-1) kept St. Augustine's out of the end zone to claim the CIAA West title and a berth in the league's championship game with a win in Durham.
