BCSP Notes . . .MEAC refs suspended; Wyatt vindicated
Wyatt, who complained forcefully during last week's MEAC Teleconference that officials had erred in calling a formation his team employed illegal in the Wildcats' loss to Norfolk State on Sept. 22, was vindicated when the conference suspended three officials from that game. The league announced the suspension last week. In the game, the Wildcats were penalized on three offensive plays for blocking below the waist, as well as two pass interference calls, one on offense and one on defense. Earlier this week, B-CU President Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed voiced her concerns and asked the conference office to evaluate the matter. In addition, Wyatt submitted a tape of the plays in question to the conference office. An evaluation of the plays were made by the conference office and determined that the calls were incorrectly made against the Wildcats. "We regret that there were officiating errors during this game," stated Commissioner Dennis Thomas. "Ultimately, officials have a responsibility to help protect the integrity of the game and let the teams and coaches decide the outcome on the field." © 2007 Azeez Communications, Inc. |
