Jackson making progress with Vikes
Minnesota Vikings second-year quarterback Tavaris Jackson out of Alabama State was the focus of a feature story in USA Today Tuesday.

Jackson, a surprise second round 2007 draft pick by the Vikings, has been penciled in as the team's starter after playing in four games at the end of last season. The story focuses on the confidence Vikings' head coach Brad Childress has in his young signal caller and the progress he has made since assuming the starting position late last season.

Jackson is currently one of four former HBCU quarterbacks playing in the NFL. Baltimore's Steve McNair (Alcorn State) is the veteran of the group entering his 13th year in the league. Former Florida A&M QB Quinn Gray is a third-stringer with Jacksonville. 2 job. Fellow FAMU product Casey Printers is a back-up at Kansas City while former Grambling State QB Bruce Eugene is still on the roster after surviving the first cut of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers camp.
