St. Augustine's sweeps NCAA Div. II Indoor Track and Field titles
St. Augustine's claimed both the men's and women's team titles Saturday at the 2007 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships co-hosted by Stonehill College and the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston.

Head Coach George Williams guided his Falcon men to a repeat performance of last year's championship and the school's tenth national title overall. Senior Jamaal Torrance led the way by setting a meet record in the 200 meters with a mark of 21.19 seconds while also taking top honors in the 400 meters with a mark of 46.58 seconds.

North Carolina Central finished fourth with 38 points.

St. Aug's women reclaimed the national championship it had lost to Lincoln (Mo.) in 2006, as the Falcons won the crown for the fourth time in seven years and for the sixth time overall.

Four record-setting performances helped lead the way for St. Aug's as sophomore Davita Prendergast broke her own mark in the 200 meters she set in Friday's preliminaries with a time of 23.56 seconds. Senior Marquita Davis ran a record 8.44 seconds in the 60 meter high hurdles, while freshman Barbara Pierre set the standard in the 60 meters with a time of 7.41 seconds. Freshman Kwonya Ferguson also set a new record for the Falcons in the triple jump with a mark of 13.26 meters, as she also earned her third championship of the meet in the high jump with a mark of 1.79 meters.

St. Augustine's junior Kwonya Ferguson took the national crown in the women's women's long jump (6.18 meters). Lincoln finished as the runner-up to St. Augustine's on the women's side with 64 points.

Lincoln (Pa.) captures NCAA D3 Track title
Lincoln University won the men's team championship at the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday.

Lincoln relied on two national title winners to outdistance Wisconsin-La Crosse and Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the men's competition. Sophomore Kenddrick Gibbons won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.37 seconds, while senior Bobby Young captured the 400-meter title in 48.42 seconds to lead the Lions effort.

SWAC announces all-conference teams
Jackson State guard Trey Johnson (player) and Alabama A&M center Mickell Gladness (defensive player) claimed the top men's honors while JSU's Shelita Burns (player) and Lacey Cormier' (defensive player)of Gr ambling State were the women's winners as the Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2006-07 basketball awards.
