BCSP NFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
for games of 12/30-31

OFFENSE
QUINN GRAY, QB, Jacksonville (FLORIDA A&M) - Entered the game in the third quarter and finished with 13 completions in 22 attempts for 166 yards while rushing twice for two TDs of 9 and 17 yards in loss to Kansas City. This was Gray's most extended playing time since signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in 2003.


DEFENSE
NICK COLLINS, DB, Green Bay (BETHUNE-COOKMAN) -Six solo tackles and two interceptions, one he returned 55 yards for a first-quarter TD in win over Chicago. The picks were his second and third of the season.

RON BARTELL, DB, St. Louis (HOWARD) - Three solo tackles and two interceptions, one he returned 38 yards for a touchdown. Both interceptions were of former Alabama State QB Tarvaris Jackson.

  • FAKHIR BROWN, CURTIS DELOATCH, DB, New Orleans (NC A&T) - Three solo tackles and one assist in loss to Carolina.
  • NICK HARPER, DB, Indianapolis (FORT VALLEY STATE) - Three solo tackles and one assist in win over Miami.
  • ANTOINE BETHEA, S, Indianapolis (HOWARD) - Seven solo tackles and three assists in win over Miami.
  • MARQUES DOUGLAS, DT, San Francisco (HOWARD) - Two solo tackles and two assists in OT win over Denver.
  • CHARTIC DARBY, DT, Seattle (SC STATE) - Two solo tackles in win over Houston.
  • JOE SYKES, DE, Washington (SOUTHERN) - One assist in loss to NY Giants.
  • RASHEAN MATHIS, DB, Jacksonville (BETHUNE-COOKMAN) - Five solo tackles and one interception, his eighth of the season, in the Jags' loss to Kansas City. The first-time Pro Bowler's eight interceptions ties him for second in the NFL.
  • KENNETH PETTWAY, LB, Jacksonville (GRAMBLING STATE) - Two solo tackles with one sack in loss to Kansas City.
  • GREG WESLEY, DB, Kansas City (ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF) - Four solo tackles in win over Jacksonville.
  • DRAYTON FLORENCE, DB, San Diego (TUSKEGEE) - Three tackles, four assists in win over Arizona.
  • KALVIN PEARSON,DB, Tampa Bay (GRAMLBING) - Two solo tackles and one assist in loss to Seattle.
  • TRACY WHITE, LB, Green Bay (HOWARD) - Two solo tackles in win over Chicago.
    OFFENSE
  • TARVARIS JACKSON, QB, Minnesota (ALABAMA STATE) - Completed 20 of 34 passes for 213 yards with one TD and two interceptions. Rushed seven times for 34 yards including a one-yard TD run in loss to St. Louis.
  • STEVE McNAIR, QB, Baltimore (ALCORN STATE) - Completed 23 of 35 passes for 216 yards and rushed five times for ten yards in win over Buffalo.
  • VISANTHE SHIANCOE, TE, NY Giants (MORGAN STATE) - One reception for eight yards in win over Washington.
  • MAURICE HICKS, RB, San Francisco (N. C. A&T) - Six kickoff returns for 25.3 yard average with a long return of 36 yards in win over Denver. Hicks also had two special teams' tackles.
  • DONALD DRIVER, WR, Green Bay (ALCORN STATE) - Three receptions for 23 yards including a nine-yard TD pass that opened the scoring in a win over Chicago. The NFC Pro Bowler finishes the season with 92 receptions for 1,295 yards, both numbers fifth best in the NFL, and 8 TDs.
  • JAMAL JONES, WR, New Orleans (NC A&T) - Three receptions for 69 yards in loss to Carolina.
