Averaged 22.5 points and 7 rebounds in wins over Hampton
and NC A&T. Scored a season-high 29 points on 10
of 17 shooting and 9 of 12 from the line as the
Eagles took over sole possession of second place
with win over Hampton. He shot 66.7% (16 of 24)
for the week.

TROY JACKSON, 6-3, Fr., G, UMES, Wilkes Barr, PA -
Averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds in two games for the Hawks including a
game-high 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists
vs. FAMU.
INDEPENDENT PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
TONY CORNETT, 6-5, Jr., F, W. VA. STATE, Columbus,
OH - Led Yellow Jackets to 2-1 week averaging 13.7 points per game and
9 rebounds per game.
CLARENCE MATTHEWS, 6-7, Jr., F, TENNESSEE STATE, Beaumont, TX -
Matthews averaged a double-double (14.7 ppg/13.0
rpg) while helping Tennessee State to a 2-1 mark last week. In the Tigers' win over Austin
Peay, the junior forward pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds to go with 18 points and
five blocked shots. He then followed that with 11 points and 13 rebounds versus Murray
State, and a 15-point, seven-board effort in a non-conference win at Ball State. He finished
the week with a total of 10 blocks, six assists
and three steals while shooting 56.3 percent from the field (18-of-32). Matthews has
netted double-double efforts in seven of his last
10 games and leads the OVC with eight overall.
SIAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
BRANDON CHILDS, 6-1, Sr., G, MOREHOUSE, Conyers,
GA - Averaged 13.7 points, 5.3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in wins over FVSU and
CAU and a loss to Albany State.
SWAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
AKIEM CLABORN, 6-7, Sr., F, ALABAMA STATE, Eufala, AL
- Averaged a double-double, 21 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Hornets
got two wins to move into third place in the SWAC.
He had 25 points, 10 rebounds as the Hornets
knocked off Southern and 17 points and 11 boards as
they beat Alcorn State.

16 points, 20 rebounds and 3 assists in win over St. Paul's.

Averaged 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 54% (14 of 26)
to help Lady Eagles clinch MEAC regular season title. She shot 50% (7 of 14) during her two
games last week. She had 20 points vs. Hampton and
18 vs. NC A&T.
ROOKIE
SHAHARA JOHNSON, 6-2, Fr., C, HAMPTON, Harrisburg, PA -
Averaged 10.3 points and 9 rebounds to lead Lady Pirates to 2-1 week.
Johnson had 10 points vs. Coppin State and 19 vs.
Norfolk State.
INDEPENDENT PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ASHLEY BLAKE, 5-5, So., G, CHEYNEY, Philadelphia,
PA - Scored 21 points as the Lady Wolves dropped a decision to
Millersville. Blake connected on 7 of 12 shots from
the field inclouding 2 of 4 from three-point range.
APRIL STEVENSON, 5-5, Sr., G, W. VA. STATE, Baltimore, MD -
Averaged 12.7 points and 5.3 rebounds as the Lady
Yellow Jackets had a 1-2 week.

Averaged 22.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in 1-1 week.
SWAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
SHELITA BURNS, 6-1, Jr., F, JACKSON STATE, Jackson,
MS - Averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the Lady Tigers last two
games. Burns scored 34 points and pulled down 10
rebounds as the Lady Tigers downed Grambling State Saturday. She had 13 points and 7
rebounds in a win over Texas Southern.
