In total, Hampton won five gold medals, five silver medals and one bronze in the two-day event. Kellie Wells won the 60m hurdles for the second year in a row (8.17) and Maisha Pinkard won the 400m dash with a time of 55.09. Morgan State finished a distant second with 73 points while Norfolk State was third with 51 points. Lewis, in her first year of competition, broke the MEAC individual points record of 36.5 points set in 1986 by DelState's Kimberly McCollum, with a 46-point performance. Lewis earned points in all six events she competed in and won gold medals in the long jump (19'10.6"), triple jump (41'6.5") and set a new record in the high jump (5'10"). The Rattlers won three gold medals and three silvers en route to their sixth championship overall.
