JCSU Tragedy 
Johnson C. Smith senior defensive back, Nicholas Murray, died in a car accident in his hometown of Darlington, S.C. early Christmas morning.

Murray was a member of the football team for the Golden Bulls from 2000-2003 and was named All-CIAA twice, Don Hansen Gazette's National Player of the Week, and a member of the Daktronics All-South Region. He also led the nation in interceptions in 2002.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Darlington High School Gymnasium in Darlington, SC. Murray had earned an invitation to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind., for prospective draftees in March 2004.

Prayers for Shaw's Davis
Chester Davis, General Manager at WCLY in Raleigh, and play-by-play announcer for Shaw University football and basketball, suffered a massive heart attack on Dec. 31 and is in intensive care at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Davis, one of the most passionate and professional announcers in black college sports, is a Shaw graduate and also did play-by-play work this year for MBC Sports.

Clark an All-Star
Virginia Union's Johnathan Clark, who led the CIAA in punting this past season, has been selected to play in the Las Vegas All-American Classic football game. The game will be played in Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 17, 2004. Clark averaged 39.7 yards per punt in 2003, including a school-record 72-yard punt against St. Augustine's.

Clark will play for the East squad, and be coached by Galen Hall, who coached the University of Florida for six years.
