HOW THEY DID IT - Game Recaps

  • ­ Bethune-Cookman 31, SC State 28
    B-CC (6-1, 3-1 MEAC) led 28-0 and 31-6 before SCSU (4-3, 2-1) scored 22 unanswered points to get within a field goal. SCSU scored three touchdowns within 9 minutes, 43 seconds, mostly in the fourth quarter. An interception by reserve defensive back Nick Oliver preserved the win for the Wildcats. B-CC RB Rodney Johnson ran for 110 yards including a 48-yard TD scamper but fumbled twice, one leading to a Bulldog TD. QB Allen Suber ran for 76 yards including a one-yard score, and passed for two TDs (10-15, 76 yards). B-CC's Jesus Cortez's 46-yard third quarter field goal proved to be the winning points.

  • ­ Southern 30, Jackson State 20
    BCSP #1 Southern (7-0, 4-0 W) could not shake a game Jackson State (2-6, 2-1 E) squad before a crowd of 46,794 in Jackson. Jaguar QB Quincy Richard (25-33, 299 yds.) threw for one TD and ran for two.

  • ­ Stillman 47, Kentucky State 18
    Stillman (3-4) picked off six of KSU QB Joe McBride passes to knock off the SIAC-leading Thorobreds (5-2, 4-0 SIAC).

  • ­ Benedict 21, Fort Valley State 19
    Benedict (5-2, 3-1 SIAC) thrust itself into the middle of the SIAC race with the win over FVSU (4-3, 3-2 SIAC). FVSU had a chance to tie the game after getting a TD with 20 seconds left. But BC defensive back Jevaras Atchison defelected a pass from FVSU QB Jo e Sapp to preserve the win.
