BCSP NFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
for games of 10/12-13

OFFENSE
STEVE McNAIR, 6-2, 235, QB, Tennessee (9th year, ALCORN STATE) - Completed 18 of 27 passes for a career-high421 yards, three TDs and no interceptions in win over Houston. McNair has passed for 812 yards in his past two games. He had a perfect quarterback rating in the first half and threw three touchdowns to Derrick Mason as the Titans routed the Houston Texans 38-17. He helped the Titans roll up 535 yards total offense, their highest total since November 1991 and their run-and-shoot days in Houston. "I can't say enough about the play of our quarterback and what he was able to do today," Fisher said. "I was awfully proud of him. This was a difficult week for the offense." McNair gave credit to his offensive line for giving him time to find receivers working hard to be open downfield. "When all I had to do is pitch and catch, that's as simple as one, two, three. Those guys did a wonderful job for me," McNair said. McNair also had a perfect rating against Pittsburgh on Nov. 25, 2001, and against Cleveland on Dec. 30, 2001. He also marked his second 300-yard passing game this season and ninth of his career.

DEFENSE
AENEAS WILLIAMS, 5-11, 200, FS, St. Louis (13th year, SOUTHERN) - Had three tackles, two assists an interception and forced a fumble in the Rams' 35-0 win over Atlanta on Monday night. "That was the emphasis tonight," Williams said after his 52nd career pickoff, second among active players to Oakland's Rod Woodson. "In our meetings, coach Lovie (Smith) would start yelling, 'Interceptions, interceptions.' Even when I would go home, I'd open my refrigerator and hear coach Lovie saying, 'Interceptions, interceptions,' and have to close it right away." The Rams closed out the Falcons right away, too. Williams, playing free safety this year for the first time after a stellar career as a cornerback, picked off Doug Johnson's ill-advised first-quarter pass in the end zone. Then he knocked the ball free from Atlanta tight end Alge Crumpler and recovered the fumble in the second period.
