BCSP NFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSE
STEVE McNAIR, 6-2, 235, QB, Tennessee (9th year, ALCORN STATE) - Completed 15 of 16 passes for 161 yards and three TDs in Titans' 30-13 win over Pittsburgh. McNair didn't make mistakes, and now has eight touchdown passes and only one interception this season. The Titans 3-1) beat the Steelers (2-2) for the 10th time in 12 games, including a 34-31 playoff victory in January. McNair is 10-3 against the Steelers, throwing 19 touchdown passes and only four interceptions.
TROY HAMBRICK, 6-1, 233, RB, Dallas (4th year, SAVANNAH STATE) - Rushed 24 times for 127 yards and a TD in win over New York Jets. Hambrick scored on a 31-yard second quarter run that put the Cowboys up 7-3. "You work hard to be Tuna's (Bill Parcell's) guy," Hambrick said. "I went to him and asked what else I could do to be one of your guys and get this running game going. He just said, 'Keep hitting it in there and 3 or 4 yards will turn into 10 or 20. Just keep working hard. You're doing the right things and saying the right things."' Hambrick, the starting back now that Emmitt Smith has gone to Arizona, tied his career high for yardage, set against Atlanta on Nov. 11, 2001.

DEFENSE
Greg Wesley, 6-2, 206, SS, Kansas City Chiefs (4th year, arkANSAS-pine bluff) - Eight tackles, one assist and an interception as the Chiefs remained undefeated with a win over Baltimore.

  • TYRONE POOLE, 5-8, 188, DB, New England Patriots (8th year, FORT VALLEY STATE) - A tackle and a forced fumble in Patriots loss to Washington.

  • RASHEAN MATHIS, 6-2, 205, DB, Jacksonville (1st year, BETHUNE-COOKMAN) - Six tackles, one assist in 24-20 loss to Houston.

  • DRAYTON FLORENCE, 6-0, 195, DB, San Diego (1st year, TUSKEGEE) - Led the Chargers with seventackles in overtime loss to Oakland. Also returned a kickoff 24 yards.

  • EARL HOLMES, 6-2, 242, LB, Detroit (8th year, FLORIDA A&M) - Led Lions with seven tackles and also had a sack in loss to Denver.

  • GRADY JACKSON, 6-2, 330, DT, New Orleans (7th year, KNOXVILLE) - Five tackles and a sack in loss to Indianapolis.

  • NICHOLAS HARPER, 5-10, 182, DB, Indianapolis (3rd year, FORT VALLEY STATE) - Four tackles, one assist in win over New Orleans.

  • ASHLEY AMBROSE, New Orleans (MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE) - Four tackles in loss to Indianapolis.

    OFFENSE

  • DONALD DRIVER, 6-0, 188, Green Bay (5th year, ALCORN STATE) - Led Packers with four reception for 50 yards in win over Chicago Monday night.

  • MATTHEW HATCHETTE, 6-3, 200, WR, Jacksonville (7th year, LANGSTON) - Two receptions for 25 yards in 24-20 loss to Houston.

  • JERRY RICE, 6-2, 200, WR, Oakland (19th year, MISS. VALLEY STATE) - Led Raiders with seven receptions for 118 yards in 34-31 win over San Diego. Had three key receptions in drives that brought Raiders back from 14-point fourth quarter deficit.

  • SCOTTY ANDERSON, 6-2, 191, WR, Detroit (3rd year, GRAMBLING STATE) - Had one reception for a 43-yard fourth quarter TD in loss to Denver.

  • SHANNON SHARPE, 6-2, 228, TE, Denver (14th year, SAVANNAH STATE) - Had seven receptions for 74 yards including a one-yard TD pass in the second quarter. "Sometimes you've got to find a way to win games like this," said Sharpe, who passed James Lofton for 10th place all-time with 766 career receptions.
