Ft. Valley State Qualifies Two for NCAA Div. II Track Championships

Yves Perry and Adrian Maddox, two members of the Fort Valley StateUniversity Wildcats track team, have qualified for the NCAA Division IIOutdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet will be held in Raleigh,North Carolina at North Carolina State University from May 25-27.

Perry, a senior, qualified for the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.41seconds. Maddox, a sophomore, made the field in the 200 meter dash with atime of 21.28 seconds. "These young men have done an outstanding job allseason and have worked hard to get to this point," stated Fort Valley Statemen's coach Leon Hutchings.

This will be the fourth consecutive year that the Fort Valley Statemen's program has participated in the NCAA Div. II outdoor meet.Preliminaries for the 200 meters will be held on Thursday (May 25) at 6:40p.m. Qualifying heats for the 400 meters are scheduled for Friday (May 26)at 7:30 p.m. Finals for the 400 meters will be held on Saturday (May 27)at 7:10 p.m., with the 200 meter finals to follow at 8:30 p.m. (edt).
